I just love it. Actually, I\u2019m writing this while drinking a filtered coffee, 100% Arabica, made by me&nbsp;using an old Italian Moka while listening to \u201cMusic from the coffee lands\u201d by Putumayo\u2026 that\u2019s how much I love my coffee. And this love must have something to do with the fact that coffee in Porto and Portugal is quite good. In Porto we drink it according to the Italian tradition: espresso, blending Arabica and Robusta coffee beans, served in a V-shaped cup. In town, we call a regular espresso <em>cimbalino<\/em>, named after the most well-known coffee machines in Porto, which&nbsp;are the Italian brand \u201cLa Cimbali\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image wp-image-1612 size-large\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tasteporto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/where-to-have-a-coffee-in-Porto.jpg\" alt=\"Top places where to have a coffee in Porto\" class=\"wp-image-1612\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">La Cimbali machine at Moustache. In my opinion, the Ferrari of coffee machines.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why is coffee in Porto so special?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Coffee is not only good in Porto, it also plays a big part in our social life. It is so much more than just the beverage on its own. I like to\u00a0call it a social enabler: one invites a friend\/coworker\/acquaintance for a cup of coffee for no particular reason or to share something special at any time of the day. In essence, <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteporto.com\/coffee-in-porto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">coffee is our way of\u00a0life<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tasteporto.com\/tours\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pssst&#8230; Join our <strong> Food &amp; Drink Tours <\/strong>and discover a side of Porto that most tourists rarely see \u00bb<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>But, where to have it?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\nLet me share my favorite places for coffee in Porto:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cafeguarany.com\/pt\/Utilidades\/Homepage.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1. Caf\u00e9 Guarany<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tasteporto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Cafe-Guarany-Salon.jpg\" alt=\"Top places where to have a coffee in Porto\" class=\"wp-image-1613\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Opened in 1933, designed in an\u00a0<em>art deco<\/em> style, this has been a\u00a0meeting point for politicians, local businessmen, and artists ever since. It is one of my favorite places in town due to its architecture. Additionally, it is one of the few <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteporto.com\/fado-in-porto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">good places for you to listen to live <em>fado<\/em> in Porto<\/a>. Have a seat and\u00a0drink an amazingly good <em>cimbalino<\/em> while enjoying the view over the bustling Aliados Avenue. \u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tavi.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2. Confeitaria Tavi<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We have said it before, Porto is so much more than just Ribeira and downtown. Head out to Foz and enjoy a cup of coffee at Tavi while taking in&nbsp;a tremendous view of the ocean. It is the perfect setting for watching the sunset. Just look at this view! <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tasteporto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/where-to-have-a-coffee-in-Porto-tavi-foz.jpg\" alt=\"Top places where to have a coffee in Porto\" class=\"wp-image-1616\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/senzucoffeeroasters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">3. Senzu Coffee Roasters<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Nothing better than filter coffee to warm up your day! Senzu was born out of Diogo&#8217;s desire to share his love for coffee with everyone. He is a coffee roaster and the founder of the brand. From around the world, here you can find coffee beans with unique quality and characteristics.&nbsp;Love it! <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tasteporto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Top-places-where-to-have-a-coffee-in-Porto.jpg\" alt=\"Top places where to have a coffee in Porto\" class=\"wp-image-1617\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/cafepiolho\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">4. Caf\u00e9 Piolho<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While\u00a0teachers used to meet at Progresso, students meet at the nearby <em>Piolho<\/em> to this day. It is the meeting point after dinner and before a night of drinking with college friends. The original name was actually \u00c2ncora D\u2019ouro, but it became known by the nickname <em>piolho<\/em> (meaning lice) due to the fact that it is always crowded. Take a seat, drink a cup of coffee and check out\u00a0the signs representing the various student groups covering the walls. If you happen to be there during a student dinner you might even be treated to a serenade of school songs. \u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tasteporto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/where-to-have-a-coffee-in-Porto-piolho.jpg\" alt=\"Top places where to have a coffee in Porto\" class=\"wp-image-1618\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/lea.food.drinks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">5. LEA Food &amp; Drinks<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Just around the corner from busy Boavista and close to Casa da M\u00fasica, you can find a true oasis: Lea &#8211; Food &amp; Drinks. With a beautiful and quiet garden in the back, this can be a place to relax, to meet up with your friends or simply to work.   &nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tasteporto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/LEA-Food-Drinks-cafes-in-Porto.jpg\" alt=\"Top places where to have a coffee in Porto\" class=\"wp-image-1618\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cafemajestic.com\/en\/Utilities\/Homepage.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">6. Caf\u00e9 Majestic<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"mceTemp\">Majestic is considered one of the most beautiful caf\u00e9s in the world. The locals call it Porto\u2019s crown jewel. Personally, I think&nbsp;it is absolutely gorgeous. Opened in 1921, with a <em>belle <\/em>\u00e9<em>poque<\/em> architecture, it was the place where artists met up. You can actually smell the history of this place pregnant with the&nbsp;intense political, philosophical and artistic debates that once took place there.
